Five Fandom Friday – Favorite Theme Park Rides

Five Fandom FridaysToday’s Fandom Friday is Favorite Theme Park Rides! I figured this was a perfect opportunity to jump back into the fun blogging prompts provided by The Nerdy Girlie and SuperSpaceChick. As you can probably guess, my favorite theme rides are all Disney based.  It’s been a very long time since I’ve been to any other theme park besides Disneyland. And with Disneyland being one of my favorite places in the world, it was both easy and hard to pick my top five. So here we go…

The Haunted Mansion

I love this ride year round (which is evident by the Haunted Mansion themed merchandise I keep buying). But there is something extra special and fun when it’s dressed up for the holidays and themed based on Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas. I love seeing what the massive gingerbread house is every year.

The Twilight Zone Tower or Terror

From a themed, and wonderfully perfect, Twilight Zone video to kick off the ride to viewing the hilarious pictures at the end of the ride – the Tower of Terror is fun from start to finish.  You can tell I have fun with my friends and family every time by the pictures (that’s us in the front – See No Evil, Hear No Evil, and Speak No Evil).

Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree

This was a ride we were never quite sure about. But there was no line and we decided to try it. And we laughed non-stop. I don’t know what it is about this ride, but I giggle the whole time I’m on it. I love it.  And at the end, Mater always helpfully reminds us to not forget our “junk” when we depart.

Radiator Springs Racers

This is another ride that is so much fun. And of course Mater cracks me up still. There are scenes (like the waterfall) pulled directly from the movies. Everything is so detailed, it is well worth the line (which is always super long). Helpful hint: try the single rider line. Even if you are with a group, it tends to work out that you end up racing at least one of your friends and sometimes I think that’s even more fun than riding with them in your same car.

Indiana Jones Adventure

It’s another ride influence and pulled from movies and it’s so much fun. Elements from all the Indiana Jones movies are thrown in and its a wild ride. Beware the snakes, rats, and bugs!

And because it was very hard for me to just pick five, here are a couple more of my favorites.

  • Alice in Wonderland
  • Toad’s Wild Ride
  • Peter Pan’s Flight
  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

I realize how very fortunate I am to be able to go and enjoy Disneyland on a regular basis. It means I don’t stress out when lines are super long because I know I’ll have a return trip in which I might fare better.  That said, I’m always willing to wait to get my Haunted Mansion fix in!  What are your favorite theme park rides?
